Today is primary day in the city of Boston. It’s more accurately called “preliminary day” since the candidates are in preliminary run-offs to winnow the fields down before the general election on November 3.

Voters will choose candidates for mayor and city councilor. There are four men running for mayor including incumbent Thomas Menino. There are 15 people running for the four open city councilor at large positions.

The top two vote getters on the mayoral ballot will meet in the general election. The top eight vote getters in the race for city councilor at large will meet in November.

Who do you think would make the best mayor? Does Tom Menino deserve another four years or is it time for a changing of the guard? What’s the most important thing a mayor can do in regard to real estate and the general economy? Lower taxes? More sources of revenue? How do you feel about crime, clean streets, public schools?
