Scott Van Voorhis over the the Boston Herald Boston Globe has the scoop on a proposal by Boston City Council President Mike Ross that would penalize real estate brokers if they rent apartments to five or more college students.

The Boston City Council is preparing to debate plans to slap a 0 fine on real estate brokers who rent out a single apartment to five or more students.

If you’ll remember, it was last year that Councilor Ross spearheaded the (successful) attempt to pass a city-wide regulation that makes it illegal for more than four students to rent one apartment (regardless of the apartment’s size).

According to Scott, quoting Councilor Ross, city DND storm troopers inspectors have found only a few violators of the new regulation, which raises the question, why pass another regulation?
